Local Community Groups Clubs and Organisations in Heath and Reach
We have put together a list of locations where a number of groups and clubs meet regularly within the Parish of Heath and Reach. For simplicity, we have provided links to the main providers. Heath Village Barn
A number of group and clubs meet through the week and at weekends at what is known to the locals as The Barn. These include but are not limited to Art Classes, Band Practice, Drama, Pilates, Yoga and the WI.
In addition, The Barn is available to hire for local business meetings, parties, celebrations, wakes and funerals as an example.

Heath Barn Pre-School
Heath Barn Pre-school has been established for over 45 years, and from its early days in the Village Barn, is now located on the grounds of St Leonard’s School, Heath and Reach. It is a registered charity and ‘owned’ by the parents/carers of the children who attend; a committee is formed from the parents/carers and assists with the management of the group and fundraising/social events.
The aim of our pre-school is to provide a safe, secure and caring environment in which children can learn through their play and develop confidence and independence in readiness for school. Our staff are committed to caring for your child and providing an environment in which children can thrive. We take pride in the welcoming atmosphere we create and the progress children make during the time they are with us.
2, 3 and 4-year-olds, childcare vouchers, tax-free childcare, 30 hours of extended funding and additional paid hours too.

Heath and Reach Scouts
Heath and Reach Scout Group is part of Leighton Linslade District, in Bedfordshire. They have been in the village for many years and have their own HQ near the centre.
The Group accepts both boys and girls aged from 6 to 14 years old, though they do have 14-18-year-olds helping as Young Leaders.

Leighton Buzzard Railway
The terminus of the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway is located at Stonehenge Works in the Parish of Heath and Reach turned 100 in 2019.
This railway is one of England’s finest narrow-gauge railways and was awarded The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2017.

Royal British Legion
Set on the edge of woodland in the Parish of Heath and Reach, Bedfordshire, the local branch of the Royal British Legion is a thriving club offering a warm welcome to members and non-members alike. The club hosts regular live bands and other events, has a good selection of beers and spirits and also sports a family bar.

Rushmere Country Park
Managed by The Greensand Trust, working in partnership with Central Bedfordshire Council, the park is run on a not-for-profit basis for the benefit of visitors and wildlife.
Visitors can enjoy this wonderful park with over 400 acres of woodland, heathland and lakes, for a whole day for just £6.00
Attractions include:
- An ‘access for all’ Sculpture Trail where visitors can search for fairies and have a photograph in the Giant’s Chair
- Play areas, a giant slide and play spots around the site
- The heronry where you can watch herons raise their young in the Spring
- A network of walking, cycling and horse-riding trails
- Areas where dogs can be walked on and off the lead including a dog fun area specifically for our canine friends
- Access to the Visitor Centre, toilets, the deck, Tree Tops Café, Herons Hatch, meadow for picnics and Stockgrove Visitor Centre and cafe

Local Sports Clubs & Groups
Throughout the year, the Parish of Heath and Reach has a number of groups and clubs that hold various recreational events during the week at Bryants Lane Sports and Recreation Ground.
These events include but are not limited to Fitness programmes, Football & Rugby Practise. During the spring until the autumn there are Basketball, Bowls and Tennis Sessions.

St. Leonard’s Church
